The Parking BOXX BGS-5xx incorporates red/green safety illumination panels on the parking gate and offers an optional red/green illuminated arm. Housed in a stainless steel cabinet with a direct drive motor that auto-reverses upon contacting an obstruction. Programmable open and close gate arm speeds, a wireless receiver, and two remote controls to open/stop/close the barrier gate arm. The slim profile works well on narrow islands.

Types of Parking Lot Gates Available

The main types are straight-arm gates (standard for most lots) and articulating or folding-arm gates (for low overhead clearance). Standard parking lot gate arms span up to 14 feet; extended-arm models reach 18 feet for wide commercial driveways. Beyond 18 feet, paired opposing gates cover the span while maintaining fast opening speeds.

Parking lot gates are rated for operation from -40°F to +158°F (-40°C to +70°C) and include optional heater kits for arctic conditions. Cabinet heaters prevent condensation and keep motors, controls, and loops functioning through freeze-thaw cycles.

Parking Gate Installation Process

Installation begins with positioning the gate cabinet and drilling anchor bolts to secure it firmly to the concrete surface. Vehicle detection loops are then saw-cut into the pavement and wired to detect approaching and exiting vehicles. Power and communication cables are installed and connected to the control system. Finally, the barrier gate arm is mounted, calibrated, and tested to verify proper opening speeds, safety features, and integration with access control or ticketing systems.

A single-lane install typically takes 1 to 2 days. Multi-lane sites with pay stations, LPR cameras, or access control integration generally run 3 to 5 days.
