Parking System FAQs
Answers to common questions about parking systems, pay stations, barrier gates, software, pricing, and installation. Can't find your answer? Call us at 1-800-518-1230.
1. How much does a parking system cost?
The cost of a parking system varies based on facility size, equipment needs, and desired features. Basic apps for non-gated systems start at $49/month. Gated systems start around $15,000–$25,000. Pricing increases as more kiosks, barrier gates, and functionality are added.
- Mid-sized projects: $40,000–$120,000 for multi-lane access control with LPR cameras and payment kiosks
- Enterprise installations for hotels, hospitals, or multi-facility operations: $100,000–$500,000+ depending on PMS integration, real-time occupancy tracking, and custom reporting

2. How long does installation take?
Installation timelines depend on project scope and complexity:
- Single-lane barrier gate installations: 1–2 days including equipment mounting, wiring, and software testing
- Standard deployments (2–4 lanes with kiosks and LPR cameras): 3–5 business days
- Large multi-facility rollouts or complex PMS/access control integrations: 1–3 weeks
Overall project timelines from order to install are typically 4–6 weeks, or 8–12 weeks for complex projects. This timeline starts after order placement, deposit, kickoff call, artwork approval, and merchant account setup are complete.
3. Do you offer pricing options?
Yes. Pricing options may allow for lower CapEx/upfront capital costs or prepaying software to receive significant discounts. Contact our sales team to discuss financing options tailored to your organization's needs and budget constraints.
4. What maintenance is required?
Parking BOXX systems are designed for minimal maintenance and maximum uptime. Regular maintenance includes:
- Quarterly cleaning of payment terminals and card readers
- Monthly review of barrier gate safety sensors and emergency manual release mechanisms
- Annual inspection of gate arm springs and motor assemblies
- LPR camera lens cleaning and focus verification as needed
Software updates are automatic for cloud-hosted CloudEASE systems. Average maintenance time is a few hours per quarter for typical installations. Optional preventive maintenance agreements include 24/7 monitoring and annual on-site service visits.
5. Can I integrate with my existing PMS or access control system?
Yes. Parking BOXX integrates with major hotel PMS platforms including Oracle Opera, Maestro, OnQ by Agilysys, and RoomKey for automated guest validation. For access control, we integrate with HID Mobile Access, RFID credential systems, and most major access control platforms using Wiegand, OSDP, or IP-based protocols. A RESTful API enables custom integrations with accounting software, building management systems, and enterprise platforms.
6. What happens if the internet goes down?
Parking BOXX systems include robust offline capability. Payment terminals store transaction data locally using PCI-compliant encrypted storage and automatically sync to the cloud when connectivity resumes. Barrier gates continue operating based on locally cached validation data and access rules. LPR cameras maintain local databases of authorized license plates for up to 90 days. All transactions are queued and synced automatically — no revenue is lost during outages.
7. What payment methods do parking systems accept?
Parking BOXX pay stations and kiosks accept credit and debit cards with EMV chip readers, contactless tap-to-pay (cards and mobile wallets including Apple Pay and Google Pay), cash (bills and coins with optional change return), mobile payment via QR codes and smartphone apps, and parking validation codes from retail tenants, hotel PMS systems, and event organizers. All payment processing is PCI-compliant.
8. What is license plate recognition (LPR) and do I need it?
LPR (license plate recognition) cameras read license plates at entry and exit lanes. Parking BOXX recommends a layered system approach: LPR as the primary entry layer, with ticket dispensing as the fallback for vehicles the camera cannot match. LPR enables: hands-free entry for monthly permit holders (plate is the credential); contactless payment where drivers pay at a kiosk linked to their plate; pre-sold parking with plate linked to reservation; and enforcement reporting in non-gated lots. LPR is not required for gated systems — ticket-based systems work reliably without LPR — but adding LPR as a primary layer dramatically improves throughput for regular users and high-volume facilities while preserving a reliable fallback for everyone else.
9. Does Parking BOXX offer service and support after installation?
Yes. Parking BOXX provides direct manufacturer support — not third-party service. CloudEASE includes real-time equipment monitoring with proactive alerts before issues affect operations. Remote diagnostics resolve most issues without a site visit. On-site service is available through a national network of certified technicians throughout the United States and Canada. Optional preventive maintenance agreements include scheduled on-site service visits and priority response.
10. How do I get a quote for a parking system?
The fastest path to a quote is a 15-minute phone call to describe your site — facility type, number of lanes, user types, and desired features. Parking BOXX delivers a fixed-price proposal within two business days. No mandatory software demo required to get pricing. Request a quote online or call 1-800-518-1230 directly.
