Exit Lane Parking System — Collect Every Dollar, Release Every Vehicle

A parking exit lane system is the complete set of exit equipment that collects payment, validates credentials, and controls vehicle release at a gated parking facility — the exit terminal, barrier gate, LPR camera, access control pedestal, and intercom all working together, connected to CloudEASE parking management software.

What's in the system

Every component in the exit lane.

Parking BOXX configures the exit lane system to match your facility — a small surface lot might need just an exit terminal and barrier gate, while a multi-level hospital garage might use all components across multiple exit lanes. Not every lane needs every component.

How the Exit Lane Parking System Works

The exit lane manages four types of vehicle departure through one lane.

Parking BOXX designs exit lane parking systems that handle transient ticket payment, pay-on-foot validation, monthly credential exit, and LPR-based layered departure from a single integrated lane. Every component communicates in real time through CloudEASE.

Mode 01

Transient Ticket Payment at Exit

The most common exit scenario. The driver approaches the exit lane, inserts or scans their barcode ticket at the Exit BOXX. CloudEASE calculates the fee based on entry time, current time, and the applicable rate schedule. The driver pays by credit card or contactless tap.

Once payment is confirmed, the Exit BOXX prints a receipt, logs the closed session in CloudEASE, and opens the barrier gate. The entire transaction typically takes under 30 seconds.

Mode 02

Pay-on-Foot Validation

For facilities using walk-up pay stations (Mini Pay BOXX or Big Pay BOXX), the driver pays before returning to their vehicle. The pay station prints a validated ticket or sends a confirmation to CloudEASE tied to the barcode.

At the exit lane, the driver scans or inserts the validated ticket. The Exit BOXX confirms payment in CloudEASE and opens the gate — no additional payment is collected. This mode dramatically reduces exit queue times.

Mode 03

Monthly Credential Exit

Monthly parkers, employees, residents, and hotel guests with registered credentials exit without paying. They present their RFID card, HID Mobile credential on their smartphone, or long-range vehicle tag at the exit pedestal or Exit BOXX reader.

CloudEASE validates the credential against the correct date, time, and facility permissions, logs the exit event, and opens the barrier gate. The entire process is hands-free for recognized long-range credentials.

Mode 04

LPR Layered Exit

When an LPR camera is installed at the exit lane, LPR serves as the primary exit layer — capturing the vehicle's license plate as it approaches. CloudEASE checks the plate against registered monthly parkers and pre-paid transient sessions.

Recognized plates — monthly parkers or transients who paid at a pay station — trigger automatic gate opening with no terminal interaction required. Unrecognized plates are prompted to pay at the Exit BOXX terminal. Every vehicle gets a path out — no abandoned exits, no stuck lanes.

Exit Lane System Components

A complete exit lane parking system from Parking BOXX includes:

Exit BOXX terminal
EXB-5xx series

Barcode ticket scanner reads entry tickets at exit, triggers CloudEASE rate calculation, and collects payment. Accepts all major credit cards, EMV chip, and contactless tap (Apple Pay / Google Pay). Optional bill acceptor for cash. Built-in PCI-compliant card reader, receipt printer, intercom, and RFID/HID access control reader. Custom branding with your logo and colors.

Base
Barrier Gate
Magnetic / LiftMaster compatible

Standard, articulating, and high-speed arms available. Vehicle detection loops prevent the gate from closing on a vehicle in the lane. Fast-cycle operators open and close in under two seconds for high-volume exit lanes.

Base
LPR Camera
License plate recognition

Serves as the primary exit layer — captures license plates at exit, opens the gate for registered (monthly) or paid plates, directs unrecognized plates to the Exit BOXX terminal. Also available: security cameras and NVR for full lot coverage.

Option
Access Control Pedestal
RFID · HID Mobile · Long-range tag

A standalone pedestal for monthly parkers who exit without interacting with the Exit BOXX. RFID card reader, HID Mobile Access, and AVI long-range tag support. Credentials managed in CloudEASE with date, time, and facility restrictions.

Option
VoIP Intercom
Built-in or standalone

Built into the Exit BOXX or mounted as a standalone unit. Connects drivers to remote support staff for lost tickets, payment disputes, or accessibility assistance — without requiring on-site personnel.

Option
Big Pay BOXX
Lane-integrated cash + credit

For facilities that accept cash payment in the exit lane. Bill acceptor, coin/token, and full credit card stack. Provides change. Same CloudEASE integration — transactions reconcile with exit events automatically.

Option
CloudEASE Parking Management Software
Included with all systems

Every exit event, every payment transaction, every credential validation is recorded in real time. Operators manage rates, run revenue reports, audit sessions, and monitor lane status from any web browser — no server required.

Exit Lane Configuration Options

Exit lane systems are configured differently depending on facility type and parker mix.

Transient-Heavy Facilities

Public garages, event venues, retail parking. The majority of exits involve ticket scan and payment. Fast throughput is the priority — high-speed barrier gate arms and a streamlined Exit BOXX UI minimize queue buildup.

  • Exit BOXX + barrier gate
  • EMV + contactless for fast payment
  • LPR optional for pre-paid exits

Pay-on-Foot Facilities

Facilities with walk-up pay stations (Mini Pay BOXX or Big Pay BOXX) process payment before the driver returns to their vehicle. Exit lanes validate paid tickets only — no payment collected at the gate, maximum exit speed.

  • Exit BOXX in validation-only mode
  • LPR for pay-by-plate confirmation
  • Intercom for exception handling

Monthly-Heavy Facilities

Office buildings, residential, employee lots. The majority of exits are credential-based. Exit lanes can be configured as credential-only (no terminal needed) or dual-mode to handle both monthly and occasional transient exits.

  • Access control pedestal primary
  • LPR for registered plate bypass
  • Exit BOXX for transient overflow

Multi-Lane Facilities

Large garages may run dedicated exit-payment lanes alongside credential-only monthly lanes. CloudEASE monitors all lanes simultaneously and alerts staff to hardware issues or queue anomalies in real time.

  • Dedicated monthly-only exit lanes
  • Dedicated transient payment lanes
  • Centralized CloudEASE dashboard

CloudEASE

Every exit event. Every dollar. One dashboard.

Every payment, every credential exit, every exception is recorded in real time. Operators manage rates, run revenue reports, audit sessions, and monitor lane status from any web browser — no server required, no on-site staff needed at many customer sites.

Ask yours
1. What Is an Exit Lane Parking System?
An exit lane parking system is the complete set of equipment that controls vehicle departure at a gated parking facility — the exit terminal, barrier gate, LPR camera, access control pedestal, intercom, and parking management software all working together. The system collects payment from transient parkers, validates credentials for monthly parkers, and opens the gate for pre-paid or LPR-recognized vehicles.
2. What Components Are in an Exit Lane Parking System?
A complete exit lane system includes the Exit BOXX terminal, a barrier gate, optional LPR camera for layered LPR exit, access control pedestal for RFID/HID credentials, VoIP intercom, and CloudEASE software. Configuration varies — a simple lot may need only an exit terminal and barrier gate, while a complex facility may use all components.
3. How Does the Exit Lane System Handle Pay-on-Foot Parkers?
Pay-on-foot parkers pay at a walk-up pay station before returning to their vehicle. At the exit lane, they insert or scan their validated ticket — the Exit BOXX confirms payment in CloudEASE and opens the gate. No payment is required at the exit terminal itself, which speeds throughput and eliminates queue buildup.
4. Can the Exit Lane System Support LPR Layered Exit?
Yes. An LPR camera at the exit lane serves as the primary exit layer — it captures the license plate and CloudEASE checks whether the plate belongs to a registered monthly parker or a pre-paid transient parker. If confirmed, the gate opens automatically. Unrecognized plates are directed to pay at the terminal — so every vehicle has a path forward.
5. How Does the Exit BOXX Handle Monthly Parkers?
Monthly parkers present their credential — RFID card, HID Mobile Access on their phone, or a long-range vehicle tag — at the exit lane. CloudEASE validates the credential and opens the gate. No payment is collected. All exit events are logged for reporting and audit purposes.
6. What Payment Methods Does the Exit BOXX Accept?
The Exit BOXX accepts all major credit cards, contactless tap (Apple Pay, Google Pay), and EMV chip cards. Optional bill acceptor for cash payment. All transactions are PCI-compliant and logged in CloudEASE in real time. Receipts are printed on-demand or emailed.
7. What Is the Difference Between an Exit Terminal and a Pay Station?
A pay station is a walk-up device where drivers pay before returning to their car — it is not lane-integrated. An exit terminal is installed in the exit lane itself; drivers pay or validate as they approach the gate. Both can exist in the same facility: pay stations handle the payment transaction, the exit terminal confirms payment and releases the gate.
8. How Much Does an Exit Lane Parking System Cost?
Pricing depends on the number of exit lanes, components selected, and integration requirements. Single-lane systems start at a lower price point; multi-lane configurations with LPR and full accessories cost more. Request a quote or call 1-800-518-1230 for a customized proposal in one quick call.
