Smart Parking Meters
SPM-5xx — Starting at $7,150
Multi-space smart parking meters with three operating modes — Pay & Display, Pay By Space, and Pay By License. EMV credit/debit, contactless tap, cash, and P-123 phone payment. CloudEASE cloud management included. No gatehouse required.
Three Operating Modes
Smart parking meters (also called multi-space parking meters) offer three primary modes. All modes support configurable parking rates by date and time. Compare the pros and cons of a smart parking meter versus a gated parking system.
Pay & Display
Parkers walk up to the meter after parking, select and pay for their desired time, and a ticket prints displaying the purchased parking window. The parker places the receipt on their dashboard. Enforcement officers check dashboards and cite vehicles parked outside their allotted time.
Also known as: Pay and Display Parking Meters, Pay and Display Parking Machines
Pay By Space
Parking spaces are numbered. When parkers pay, they also enter their space number. CloudEASE shows enforcement officers a real-time map of active and expired spaces — officers can spot violations from a distance without checking every dashboard.
Also known as: Pay By Space Parking Machine, Pay By Space Parking Equipment
Pay By License
Parkers enter their license plate number along with their desired time. The meter prints a ticket with both the allotted time and the plate number. Parkers cannot share or transfer parking time, and enforcement cross-references plate numbers against active sessions.
Also known as: Pay By License Parking Machines, Pay By License Parking Equipment
Phone Parking Payment & Other Options
One meter serves your entire surface lot. Configure rates, accept multiple payment types, and manage everything remotely through CloudEASE.

Smart Parking Meter vs. Gated Parking System
Not sure which system fits your facility? Smart parking meters are ideal for surface lots, street parking, and lower-volume operations that don't need physical access control. A gated system is better for facilities requiring revenue enforcement at exit.
| Smart Meter | Gated System | |
|---|---|---|
| Infrastructure | Minimal — no gates or loop detectors required | Lanes, gates, loop detectors, islands |
| Revenue enforcement | Honor system + enforcement officers | Physical barrier — pay to exit |
| Best for | Surface lots, street parking, parks, low volume | Garages, high-revenue, high-volume facilities |
| Access control | No vehicle access control | Full entry/exit credential control |
| Starting price | From $7,150 | From $29,000 |
| Installation | Self-install available | Professional installation required |
